Do not get ripped off in the turquoise jewelry, read this!
I live in southern New Mexico, so to get friends all the time doing road trips through Santa Fe to visit. A friend of mine came to me last week and was thrilled to show her new turquoise necklace wrapped around her neck. It was absolutely incredible with large pieces of turquoise blue with spider veins running through it. The only problem was that it was false.
The necklace that recently emerged from a seller howlite street were probably dyed or magnesite, two totally different minerals in their natural state are white, but to polish like turquoise. Anyone could die at any color under the rainbow and can make a very convincing turquoise. Magnesite especially because it includes the black streaks that are often the most sought after of turquoise beads and nuggets of mines in the southwest.
To be fair to howlite or magnesite which are really a precious mineral. In either unprocessed or died, and the grains of magnesite howlite can make some beautiful jewelry. The problem is when posing as something else, like turquoise.
And these two are not the only two used to defraud people. Glass and plastic beads, of course, can pass as turquoise, turquoise, but can also itself. Meet the turquoise mines!
Today we begin a series of sessions of the second part presents and gives a little history of some of the most popular mines in Nevada, as well as some other more obscure. Let's put things out of Cheyenne mine turquoise.

Mina Candelaria: Candelaria Turquoise comes from the small La Candelaria mine in Nevada. It does not produce a lot of stone, and as such Candelaria turquoise is rare and considered a collection object. If you like this webbed stone, buy it immediately. Candelaria Turquoise is very rare and very difficult to achieve. It is a beautiful stone webbed with the color varies from light blue to a sea rich dark blue with different colored straps.
